JESSICA SLESSOR

TEACHER

Jessica Slessor is an accomplished dancer and passionate teacher who has received extensive training in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, and musical theatre. Jessica completed her grade 8 and advanced foundation ballet exams with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). Jessica’s love for dance transpired into a passion for teaching and is a member of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (BATD).

Jessica competed with the Canadian Tap Team at the IDO world dance Championships in Germany. Jessica has sought out experiences to expand her dance education through travel, workshops, and conventions. Jessica has taught and choreographed award-winning routines at several studios in Ontario and the East Coast.

Jessica graduated from Dalhousie University with the Bachelor of Science. Upon moving to Halifax, it became important for Jessica to become involved in their dance community and continue her own training. Jessica danced on and choreographed for Dalhousie’s competitive dance team and took on crucial leadership roles including Vice President and President of the team. Jessica also taught and choreographed for Dalhousie’s dance society. In addition to her own training, Jessica had the opportunity to attend and teach classes at House of Eights, a new drop-in dance studio in Halifax.

Jessica has recently received her Bachelor of Education Degree from Queen’s University and will begin teaching this fall. Jessica is excited for a career in education and hopes that she can merge her dance training with her formal education. Jessica is extremely excited to return to teaching at Center Stage!
