Joanne has taken on the roles of dancer, teacher, choreographer, and adjudicator.  She is a graduate of the University of Waterloo where she received an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance from the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences.  She has her Advanced Ballet Certification through The Royal Academy of Dance and obtained her Teacher Certificates in Ballet and Stage through The British Association Teachers of Dance.  Joanne continued her dance training at The Toronto Dance Theatre, Randolph Dance Canada, The Teacher’s Collective, and The Broadway Dance Centre and Alvin Ailey’s in New York City.  Joanne was also accepted into the Dance Intensive Professional Training Program at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.  She performed several projects and films with Cash and Company Dance and choreographed and premiered her own solo performances for NUMUS concerts and Series 8:08.  Joanne later received her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Toronto.  Presently, Joanne also enjoys teaching academics as an Occasional Teacher for the Halton District School Board.

For over twenty years, Joanne has shared her love of dance through teaching and adjudicating children of all ages.  She taught for several years with the Carousel Dance Centre at the University of Waterloo and has served as a guest artist and choreographer for numerous schools, skating clubs, and private studios in Canada and the U.S.  Joanne has produced many regional, national, and international champions and has been the recipient of numerous choreography awards and scholarships.  Her students have gone on to receive University dance degrees and perform professionally in theatre and dance.

Joanne’s humour, energy, and commitment to continuing education make her popular with her students as they strive for success.  She remembers her own first dance steps and is thrilled to share her passion for music and dance.  Joanne is excited for the upcoming season at Center Stage School of the Arts!
